“Elderly care training is attractive”

A total of 22 trainees from the DIAKO Emma and Karl Hübel Education Center - School for Care Professions and Geriatric Nursing Assistants have now passed their exams as geriatric nurses. The successful completion was celebrated with a service led by Pastor Oswald Beuthert in the Catholic church in Bad Arolsen and a subsequent ceremony.
"This year we are closing the fourth Elderly Care course with an exam as Elderly Care Assistant or Elderly Care Professional. We feel, and the figures confirm this, that Elderly Care training is attractive," says Pastor Oswald Beuthert (spokesperson for the DIAKO management). "In Elderly Care training, we meet many people with high social skills. It is important to us as DIAKO Waldeck-Frankenberg important to empower the people here and to recognize and value each person in their uniqueness."
Background: The new geriatric nurses have completed their theoretical training over the past three years at the school in Korbach. The practical part was carried out in cooperation with elderly care facilities in Waldeck-Frankenberg and NRW as well as the job centers in Waldeck-Frankenberg.
"We are proud of our qualified geriatric nurses, who have acquired a high level of professional competence. Despite difficult learning conditions under Corona and some initial language barriers, everyone has developed into committed and competent professionals," says Silke Kaufmann, head of the DIAKO Emma and Karl Hübel training center.
