DIAKO as an employer

A company with many locations and opportunities.

About Us

In the tradition of the deaconesses who have been serving the people and the glory of God in Bad Arolsen since 1872, as well as the more than 700-year history of the foundation Hospital St. Elisabeth, we work today as a complex diaconal institution with the sub-areas of semi-inpatient and inpatient elderly care, outpatient elderly care, child and youth welfare as well as training and further education for care professions and geriatric nursing assistance for the people of Waldeck-Frankenberg.

And just as life is diverse, so is the work in our company. For this reason, the DIAKO Waldeck-Frankenberg gGmbH more than just “a” facility.

Helenenheim WDS Bad Arolsen - Elderly care

DIAKO Waldeck-Frankenberg gGmbH, which was founded from the WDS Waldecksches Diakonissenhaus Sophienheim foundation, currently comprises the following facilities:

  • The care homes for the elderly Helenenheim in Bad Arolsen, the Schwester Lisa Bergmann Haus in Diemelsee-Adorf, the Landeshospital Flechtdorf, the senior citizens' center Auf der Burg in Frankenberg and the retirement home Zum Weinberg in Vöhl-Asel, each offering full-time elderly care and short-term care,
  • the day care centers in Bad Arolsen, Adorf and Vöhl-Asel,
  • the Zentrale Diakoniestation for Nordwaldeck and the Diakonie-Sozialstation in Frankenberg,

Since 2021, the DIAKO Waldeck-Frankenberg both from the Foundation WDS Waldecksches Diakonissenhaus Sophienheim as well as the Foundation Hospital St. Elisabeth In order to further strengthen the commonality of the institutions, all institutions have been operating under a uniform logo and a new claim since 2022.

What guides our daily thoughts, words and actions…

“Be human together” – this claim is the daily companion of all employees of DIAKO Waldeck-Frankenberg gGmbHBecause "Be human together" is our motto: Being on the journey of life together; for a short stretch or for longer. Be human together expresses that people need people in order to develop. Be human together shows that it is not just about one individual, but that people are always in relationship with one another and live their humanity: together.

It's not about a one-way street in the actions of the person providing care to the person being cared for, it's not about a one-sided approach from a helping person to a person in need, but it's about us as people moving forward together.

Whoever gives, receives. This experience is expressed in the claim. “Be human together” is inclusive, breaks down barriers, enables encounters on equal terms and is an expression of the values of DIAKO Waldeck-Frankenberg gGmbH.
